Markus Hohenwarter is head of the Department for Mathematics Education at the Johannes Kepler University Linz, Austria. With his background both in computer science and mathematics education, his research focuses on the use of dynamic mathematics software and open educational resources for learning and teaching mathematics and science. He is the creator and project leader of the open source mathematics software GeoGebra used by millions of students and teachers around the world.

GeoGebra – Directions in Software Development

The year 2013 has seen the release of the first GeoGebra tablet apps, the new desktop version GeoGebra 4.4 including a completely revised CAS view, as well as the shift from Java applets to GeoGebra’s new HTML5 technology on GeoGebraTube. In this talk, I will give an overview of these latest development news as well as an overview of future plans all of which are driven by one goal: to make learning and teaching mathematics and science easier and even more fun."
