Battling the Spread of Cholera:

"10th January 2013

A clean water project and hygiene education are making a difference in rural communities in Niger. Death lurks in the Niger River. Its name is cholera, a disease caused by a bacteria found in contaminated water. In remote towns in the southwestern region of Niger where there is little access to clean water, the polluted river is the only source for bathing, washing clothes and dishes, watering animals, and drinking.

Latrines are rarely found in the area, causing even more pollution in the river from human waste.

The combination of dirty water, a lack of hygiene education, and poor practices led to a severe cholera outbreak. More than 2,000 cases of the disease and dozens of deaths were reported.

Samaritan’s Purse is working to combat cholera by installing water filters, providing hygiene education and soap, and building......"

http://ekstrabladet.dk/nyheder/lederen/article2278706.ece

Greg & Cathe Laurie at the home of C.S. Lewis

Thoughts on Visiting the Home of C.S. Lewis

April 27th, 2014 Posted in sermons
My visit to the home of C.S. Lewis
On our way to Israel, Cathe and I are celebrating our 40th year of marriage. So we have taken some time to be together (a very good thing to do to keep your marriage strong). Cathe is still my best friend on this earth as well as “bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh.”
On our way to the Holy Land to see the most amazing biblical sites, we decided to visit another site. Though not biblical, it’s a site connected to one of the greatest Christians of all time. I am speaking of C.S. Lewis, better known by his close friends by his nickname, Jack.
Many know Lewis today because of the films based on his Narnia books. Other generations have known him through his writings, including the Narnia series as well as many others, like The Great Divorce andThe Problem of Pain. Lewis is also widely known for his classic Mere Christianity, which has been used by the Lord to bring many to faith in Jesus Christ."
